Night of the Living Dead

More recently, the world's cinematic public has lost the wonderful director George Romero. A man who committed a revolution in the genre of horrors. It was thanks to his efforts that the modern genre of films about zombies was born. Living dead appeared in the literature long before the invention of cinema. But the modern archetype of zombies, as rebel dead, first appeared in the cult picture of 1968 "Night of the Living Dead". George Romero defined the development of the zombie genre for many years to come and had a significant impact on modern culture.

Watching this tape is hard to believe that it was directed by the debutante. From the very first shots, the light, but at the same time disturbing style of narration is amazing. A black and white picture in this case is absolutely appropriate solution. Tense atmosphere literally from the first minutes envelopes the viewer and causes discomfort. There is an excellent author's idea, when the sound of crickets is used to give an alarm. It seems nothing happens, but subconsciously you feel not at ease. The director skillfully overtakes suspense, although it is a beginner. It should be noted, laid down by the author, a deep social overtones reflecting the realities of the 1960s.

When viewing a striking a lot of cliches and clichés. However, there is an important clarification. After all, this picture and gave birth to all these repetitive motifs, which we see in modern films. I really liked the soundtrack. And although the music used in the tape is not original, but taken from other earlier works, it ideally conveys an alarming atmosphere of desperate horror.

Now the main thing. How does it look now? Undoubtedly for the modern viewer, the tape looks old-fashioned, and at times even ridiculous. Therefore, most of all it will appeal to lovers of classical cinema. Even modern zombie culture fans may not appreciate this creation. I, when viewing, mentally identified myself with people of that time. Given the high level of cruelty and naturalism for those times, it is not difficult to imagine what a strong effect the picture had had on an unprepared audience. And the finale and now looks very unexpected.

The actors' names will not tell you anything. The starring role is played by the little-known theater actor Duane Jones. The most surprising thing is that he is black. And for those times when racial prejudices were still at a high level, making the central character black, it was an unusual decision. But he plays well. The rest try, but without much success.

Night of the Living Dead is a real classic of world cinema. The painting became the basis not only for modern cinema about living dead, but also determined the development of the whole zombie culture. Filmmakers must watch, the rest at their discretion.
