Long night ...
What can I say? This film, shot by a young Romero in the turbulent 60's, gave birth to a new genre of horror films "Zombie Horror." Who would have thought that such wonderful and frightening pictures as "The Dawn of the Dead", "Resident Evil", etc., originate from this film.
After the collision of the satellite with the comet on the ground begin to wander the dead people. Several survivors, who miraculously managed to avoid death at the hands of cruel creatures, hide in a small house. Their goal is simple - to hold out until dawn, but how can this be done if the dead surrounding the house become more and more, and the chances of survival are less? And there's still a whole night ahead ...
This film should not be scolded, for the simple reason that this is a real classic of zombie movies. This is a very dark and tense film, frightening and depressing even to this day. The most surprising thing is that it combines both survival problems and human relationships. Trapped, the heroes first of all think how to survive and act, which often leads to conflicts. Someone from the meeting with the dead was morally hurt, someone tries to be human, and someone becomes cruel.
Thanks to the general idea and the events taking place here, the film looks with interest and in one breath.
The images of the dead are very frightening. They do not look the way we used to see them - shabby, with saggy and dead skin. Here they look like ordinary people, pale, with a dead and frightening gaze, slowly stalking to the victim. They are not stricken with pain and fear, they are driven by hunger, and to satisfy it, they will go for anything.
The atmosphere here is shown in Ur. She is gloomy, cruel, merciless. Heroes perish one after another, zombies try to break through to people, a frightening night, on the horizon of which images of dead people can be seen. Heroes are frightened, but they are trying to find a way out of these situations, trying not to become victims of monsters around them. Watching all this is just as wonderful, interesting and frightening that it involuntarily becomes frightening. Add to this a gloomy and repulsive finale, as well as frightening music. Well, the acting for the movie of this year looks pretty decent, especially like the image of a crazy Barbara.
"Night of the Living Dead" is a real legend, the great creation of George Romero. This film is able to leave a perfect impression, but at the same time leave you one on one with your thoughts. With this film, the director warns us that even the slightest incident, like a comet collision, can lead to sad consequences. If you see them - protect your home, get your weapons and fight for your life.
It's brilliant. Bravo.
