Black and white horror at all times.

"This is not a black and white sludge about the cults of Voodoo and the tropical islands" - as one very good friend described to me this film, handing the disc. He immediately warned that the film - black and white, which was filmed in 1968, that the make-up, as such, is not in the film. I reacted to the film as a piece, I apologize, shit, but I still looked from the moment when, under eerie and, at the same time, beautiful music, a car appears from behind a hill, and until the moment when the credits change to black screen.

And I fell in love with this movie.

"The Night of the Living Dead" was filmed by George Andrew Romero in 1968 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The film tells how a group of people who were not familiar before had to sit in a locked farm, disgusting each other, and waiting or fighting. The reason - there are living dead along the street.

The film impresses with its atmosphere. I've reviewed dozens of horror films, ranging from zombie-movi and slashers to eurocult, but not one film so "clung" like this one. The actors perfectly conveyed the emotions of their heroes, beginning with the main ones and ending with the zombies. Nobody, absolutely nobody in this movie plays bad.

I also want to mention the actors and their game:

1) Judith Dee, who played the role of Barbara, gave us a character who became a cult. I'm not too familiar with the films that came out before, but from those that I saw, all the female characters necessarily fell victim to the villain, after which they were rescued. Here everything is different - Barbara is frightened, shocked and dismissed. She does not know what to do next, she can not believe that her own brother is dead. In the end, she dies, rushing into the arms of a rebel brother from the dead. Personally, this moment caused me pity for her and hatred of the dead.

2) Dwayne Jones performed the role of Ben. His character, subsequently created him like peasants, crumbling enemies. Duane plays a man who is afraid, but does not show it, and fights for his life and for the lives of others. He is the only one who can soberly assess the situation.

3) Carl Hardman, who played the role of Henry Cooper in the film, resembles the classic "muzhik-rag". He is cowardly and selfish, he is ready to throw his own wife to be eaten by the dead. He is scared and constantly trying to take control, but he does not get out.

4) Scott William "Bill" Hintzman performed in the film the role of the very first zombie. He gave us a nightmare for all time - a dead man with a face and a look of a madman possessed by a thirst for death. He moves faster than the others, but at the same time somehow "broken", and his eyes are always focused on one point - on future victims. Personally for me, Mr. Hinzman became the ideal of a living dead - moderately fast, moderately unwieldy, and incredibly insane.

As in all the subsequent films of Romero about the living dead, this film is well-marked social implication. Several people who find themselves in a piquant situation, argue, swear. One believes that he is better than another, the other thinks one is a nedonok. As always, Romero has a social highlight, but I think that this will not be the reason for viewing. In the film, there are many other positive qualities to which attention should be paid.

The film became a cult, giving birth to "zombie-movi". To date, the film has two remakes and one, so to speak, "extended version" - I'm talking about "Night of the Living Dead: 30th anniversary edition". "30th anniversary edition" is an original black-and-white "night" with shots filmed by the fans of the beginning, attack and end. The film also featured Bill Hintzman, once again playing the role of a mad graveyard zombie, giving his character a short history of a past life.

"Night of the Living Dead" is a film that all those who like simply good movies are obliged to see. He must be in the collection of any kinomana.

Forget all that was in modern movies - there are no huge mutants, a steep protagonist, a ruined city or a tropical island. After all, if this happens, the worst thing is to be in siege in your own house ...
