"Think for a moment about those who lived in the world and died, whose feelings will no longer caress the rustle of leaves, the singing of birds and the gentle rays of the morning sun. All that is so expensive and so fleeting, for them no longer exists. Live a little and then die ... What can be more sad, is not it? "

All that is so expensive and so fleeting, for them no longer exists. Live a little and then die ... What can be more sad, is not it? "
This preface to the novel by John Rousseau "Night of the Living Dead".
A sad occasion to remember him: George Romero died.
His merits are undeniable.
Of course, it was not Romero who came up with the idea to make a movie about people who came to life again, it was before, but it was he who raised the topic to the degree of the cult. He, probably, has thought up to make films with the budget one hundred dollars, where actors can not be shown not from the back, because there is no money for make-up.
In my opinion, Romero from all creators in the genre of horror features a very simple, but effective idea. Count how many people in this film fell at the hands of living dead. And how many at the hands of others? That's just it. And who are our main enemies? In my opinion, this thought passes in all his films literally a red thread. With zombie apocalypse, not zombies will destroy civilization. People will achieve it by their own actions. Hordes of rotting creatures are nothing more than a background that will help reveal the characters and shortcomings of those who are yet to turn into rotting creatures. Or internally they have already turned into it, like Harry Cooper? And this idea, taken from the novel by John Russo, Romero will further develop in all of his classic films: "Breaking Dawn," "Day," and even "Land of the Dead." This it is unique.
I really hope that after all, the zombie theme in the movie will return from the absurdity in which it was led to its origins, when the living dead were not comical nedotepami, but dangerous monsters, which are not even clear to the end, but palpable at the level instinct threat. Now it could be done at least in memory of one of the founders of the genre.
And "Night of the Living Dead" - of course, a masterpiece, thanks to which George Romero will never be forgotten!
They're coming for you, Barbara!
So why are people afraid to die? .. Who knows the answer to this question? .. Maybe we could learn about it from those who have already died, if they managed to re-enter with us for a minute; if they had risen from the dead? .. But who would say friends or enemies we would meet in their person? And we would be able to deal with them at all - we who have never been able to overcome our fear and look directly into the face of death.
