Zombie. Start.

"Night of the Living Dead" starts the era of horrors, in which zombies look as we are accustomed to seeing them now - missing sight, unconsciousness, cannibalism, anger and, most importantly, mass character. Prior to George Romero, who by right can be considered a specialist in the field of the dead, there was simply no such massive invasion of living corpses, besides all the preceding zombies were necessarily ruled by a man.

One of the most important moments in the horror film is the atmosphere that has stood perfectly. From the very beginning, what he saw does not bode well for anything optimistic - as long as there are introductory credits, the viewer can see the road with the cross, which is usually put on the burial grounds, and the graves themselves. The black and white range only adds to the feeling of darkness and despair, and in places even recalls the equally famous "Psycho" Hitchcock, who, as you know, abandoned the color intentionally. True, the refusal of both was based primarily on savings, this choice significantly influenced the atmosphere both "Psycho" and "Night of the Living Dead".

The main action begins without long preludes - the brother and sister come to the cemetery in the evening and immediately encounter one zombie. Soon, the number of people trying to escape is slightly increasing, while the number of zombies is growing exponentially. Beginning is obviously an unequal game of survival.

While heroes are building barricades, and living corpses remain outside the "fortress", the viewer needs to entertain something, and usually this entertainment becomes psychological conflicts, fueled to explosive danger. George Romero did not set up an attraction called "kill-not kill (infected person), unlike his followers. All interpersonal friction is quite simple, which does not detract from the essence - of salvation and survival.

Now we are not talking about the fact that the film can impress with respect to blood and other meat grinders. Moreover, it is unclear why the "living dead" made so much noise when they left, because there are really few human remains and other abominations, and according to our current standards, they are insignificantly small. The focus is not on the moment of death, but on what precedes it - zombie attacks. And now the dead knock on the car's windows, knock them out, stretch out their hands ... This is actually all. So if there is a desire to see an old school grinder - this is not for this part.

Later all such almost apocalypses, whether invasion of living corpses or vampires, were not solved. That is, the ending did not end the era of raging monsters, but was simply the end of one of the survival stages of the characters. George Romero, to his credit, has acted more firmly - one side wins. Definitely and irrevocably.
