In truth, the film itself does not impress me very much. Everything seems very banal - only because the picture of Romero was quoted directly and indirectly in a large number of films. At the same time, despite the considerable age, Romero's film looks fresh.

And yet ... Romero, in my opinion, filmed a social drama. That is why, his film so "shot." After all, he came out in 68: behind the war in Algeria, a little ahead of the revolution in France and in the midst of the war in Vietnam. The same pride was the murder of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King. These events simply "split" the society. Probably that's why, strange and funny "zombies" Romero became a trend.

The end of the film, in which we understand how difficult it is to distinguish an ordinary person from a zombie, is a direct warning.

In the end: a film that quite unexpectedly became a classic of the genre. True, in my opinion the whole thing is in the allegorical and subtext of Romero, which came in handy in the late 60's.
