And the miracle happened - the output in the cinemas of America was announced at the end of May, and the DVDs are somewhere in the world - in the middle of March. It is with this foreign DVD copy, in view of the low probability of being shown in our cinema, and it came down to get acquainted. Yes, we are talking about the fifth part of the zombie epic Survival of the Dead.

In fact, being the sixth picture of the founder of the genre and a living classic, about the walking dead, "Survival" is the second part of the restart of the franchise. Ambiguous "Diaries of the Dead", returning us to the origins of the epidemic, were some experiments in the fashionable shell of pseudo-documentaryism. Here everything is the same - the picture, the classic ghouls, and the situation between "Night" and "Dawn" of the dead. Zombies are already there, but the world is still holding, only starting to slide into the abyss of chaos.

By the way, at first it seems that Romero only mechanically removes a remake of himself 40 years ago, repeating the same moves and techniques. And only to the middle of the picture you realize that most likely he subtly assesses the viewer so subtly, seeming to be at first an exhausted classic, parasitizing on his best creation.

The plot logically continues "Diaries", but through the eyes of other heroes. Those who watched may remember a group of soldiers who braked and robbed the main characters of the van. So, now we get to know them better. And also with the inhabitants of one island in the ocean, a sort of rural patriarchal paradise, touched like the whole world by the zombie epidemic.

The inhabitants of the island split into two parts - some see the walking dead as a threat to everything and try to destroy them, while others flatly refuse to beat out the brains of their deceased relatives. Along the way, remembering the old squabbles and on the eve of the approaching anarchy begin to turn weapons against each other.

The scale of the action Romero resembles a rather legendary "Night of the Dead", zombies often appear in the frame, but have not yet filled the whole world. People quite argue between themselves and with the dead, the scale of the action, not being locked in four walls, is modest and does not try to reach the epic "Dawn". Although the ghouls themselves present a proper amount, as well as the action, the bloody butchering of the living and the dead, and other master chips of the master.
