"There were not in the world of two hearts so close, two souls so alike, so consonant with each other ..."
In the list of my favorite movies, the next replenishment (this does not happen very often). I heard that the film is good, and, being afraid of smearing the first impression, I approached it with caution. But from the very first minutes I was visited by such an incomprehensible, barely perceptible feeling of an incredible disposition towards me on the screen. And to the very end I was in a feeling of mild euphoria. But do not think, this does not mean that the film is easily perceived. In exactly the same places, on the contrary, it makes you turn inside out, turns your emotions and feelings off your feet. But that makes sense. And yet, in many respects, the film is very kind, romantic, forcing one to believe in true love.
Alex and Kate are very similar to each other: they are lonely people who have completely gone to work to fill the void that arises somewhere inside. Communication through the mailbox is very symbolic, and with all its archaism, it charges communication with some mysterious romance. They do not see each other, they do not hear each other’s voices, but at the same time they can entrust the most intimate, desirable. They really have love from the first word. And this invisible thread connecting two people is incredibly strong.
Keanu Reeves is a terrific actor, never ceases to amaze him. Sometimes it seems that any character, any image under his power. One of the most beloved actors. He superbly played the role of Alex Wyler, subtly showing the emotions experienced by his hero: from terrible pain to muffled joy.
Kate Forester performed by Sandra Bullock came out exactly as it should be. Very real. Never been particularly interested in the work of this actress, but here she is amazing.
