I saw the movie only recently, and was just amazed by it.
Let's start with the main thing. The director managed in just an hour and a half in an ingenious way to show male friendship against the background of many historical events that have been replacing one another for more than thirty years. A real, male friendship, which cannot be unstuck, so that it does not interfere - war, separation, bitter losses ... And the director managed to show all this in just an hour and a half, without inventing any innovations, without “sticking” any philosophical arguments, without sticking no pathos - this is extremely, very simple film, but what is it all the same brilliant ... I do not even have words to fully express my delight about the film. I'm just amazed!
Probably not a single film showing us the post-revolutionary, pre-war, military, post-war life as a whole could not show it so vividly, so ingeniously, as interestingly as we see it in the film “Officers”. It seems that such important periods in the history of our country are given not so much attention, but these epochs are felt and seen with the naked eye.
It would seem, at first glance - well, what good can be in a movie about friendship. But friendship is a kind of respect, which is also a kind of dedication, which is and can be self-sacrifice, which is loyalty, etc., etc. Here are how many facets of the human person are affected here.
The film was so good that I never heard from anyone that they didn’t like this movie. They knew how, in the Soviet time, to make movies for everyone. And not only for everyone, but also forever, because even though I was born in the USSR, I did not find a conscious life there, and the cinema, after all, was “sharpened” on the Soviet people, but then, almost all the young people, Those who watch this picture cannot admire it.
By tradition, about the actors - they are beautiful! Vasily Lanovoy literally gives himself to this character and brilliantly relives all the difficult and funny moments in the life of his character. Just brilliant performance of the role, and I'm not exaggerating. Yumatov - let him, his character is not as bright as that of Lanovoy, but he showed all that was required of his image with interest, so that he, too, can be rewarded with praises. Alina Pokrovskaya - well, just fine, no other words.
As I said, I admire how this extraordinary story is conveyed and this is clearly the merit of the writers. Cyril Rapoport wrote scripts for many military films, in particular for the equally beautiful “Aty-baty soldiers went ...”, therefore, it is not surprising that the story is so unique and ingenious. Boris Vasiliev is a cult writer, the creator of such masterpieces of literature as “There Was War Tomorrow,” “The List Does Not Appear,” and “And the Dawns Here are Quiet ...”. Therefore, it is not surprising that the story is so beautiful and sensual.
Music, too, can not help but admire.
I think it is clear from the above how much I admire this film. Perfectly.
